Summer Treats

Hey guys,

With the temperature increasing as much as it is I figured I would share with you some tips and recipes I you use to keep cool!

My first tip is to stay hydrated. I am drinking four liters of water a day from my reusable water bottle.  I carry it with me everywhere.  It helps me prevent those over heated headaches.

I have been making smoothies in the mornings to help get my fruit intake in but they are also cold and provide energy.  I like to blend up one banana, 1 orange (or orange juice), yogurt and a splash of chocolate milk.  Bam you have a breakfast smoothie.

ICED COFFEE.  It is getting to hot to be having hot coffee in the middle of the day.  I would take any leftover coffee in the coffee peculator and pour it into your ice cube trays.  This way when the coffee cubes melt there is no diluting of the sacred gift of life!

Keep your window coverings closed during the day.  This blocks the sunlight out of the house so it doesn’t get insanely warm while you are at work.  By the time i get home at 5pm (some times later) it is cooler and I can let the cool breeze come in.

Those are my tips for helping you survive the summer heat.  Leave a comment down below with a tip or two for all of us.

Just a Quick Story Time

Hey Friends,

Another week has come and gone.  It flew by!! I figure I would update you guys on my life as I see it this week.  The past few weeks since returning from #baecation have been intense, trying and a lot of work.

Outside from getting all of the #baecation videos completed and uploaded for you, my regularly scheduled YouTube/Blog life continued.  As always that keeps me very busy.  On top of that I feel as though there have been so many family functions.  Like I can’t keep up.  Trying to get one day a week where I do not leave the house has been getting more and more difficult.

I ended up pushing myself too hard and ended up with strep throat and a double ear infection.  I had to take time off work, I slept for almost two days and I then managed to finish all of the Mindy Project.  If you have not watched that show I would recommend it is quick and easy to watch and the episodes are only thirty minutes.

Aside from all of that life has been okay, Lola has had some eye trouble so i have been nursing that back to health as much as possible.  That seems to be healing well.

Now that I am resting up I am planning a fun weekend excursion around the bay with William.  We are heading out to his Cabin in Central and I am looking forward to it so much.  I have not been out that way since I was a kid so I am looking forward to the summer fun.  Of course I will be vlogging while I am there.

Let me know down below what you are doing for summer fun?

The Most Convenient IOS Apps

Hey Friends,

Welcome back to my Blog.  You may or may not be aware that I am an iPhone user.  I have been strictly Apple for eight years.  It was the best transition I ever made.  I have the iPhone SE 64GB, the iPad, a MacBook and a Mac Mini.  Everything i do syncs up across the board and makes a busy life so much easier to deal with.  So I figured that I would hop on here and share the apps that help me stay on track.

iCal

This is an app that comes pre-installed on Apple devices.  What i love the most about it is I can sync up all my devices wirelessly and I never forget a date, a time or an event.  I keep track of all my finances, life appointments, blog posts and videos all on the one calendar and it syncs across all devices.  It is a great way to keep organized.

Clue

Up next is another Calendar type app.  I use clue to track my monthly period and it is always right.  This thing is great for keeping up to date.  I do take the time to tell it all it needs to know but overall it is a great app.

FitBark

This app keeps me aware of Lola’s health and fitness.  I never thought this would become such a useful app but it has.  I never realized that living in a world of chaos meant that you may miss important things your child is trying to tell you.  It tracks Lola’s sleep, activity etc.  It puts my mind at ease when i am travelling and I do not have a constant connection to her.

Audible

To all my book works out there if you are like me you are totally into reading all the time.  Well I don’t know that much about it but i will say life can be out of control and having time to curl up with a good book isn’t guaranteed.  I have been guilty to listening to many a book on the go. I listen while walking, driving, doing my makeup etc.  I find it a change of pace from just listening to music and it keeps me focused on something.  So i would totally recommend downloading and taking a listen.  You can sign up for a free 30 day trial.

TV Show Tracker

This app keeps track of new episodes of the TV shows I am watching.  It gives you a 15 minute reminder before a new episode begins.  It also keeps track of the episodes you have watched.

Well I hope you find this helpful friends.  Let me know in the comments below what you IOS apps you use?

How to Travel with Anxiety

Hey Friends,

Welcome back to the Blog.  As I am writing this I am currently sitting on a plane on my way to Britt in Halifax.  It is officially #baecation2017. I figured I would share my thoughts on how I travel with anxiety.

For me picking my seat is key.  I prefer an aisle seat as it makes for a quicker escape. I try to travel with just a carry-on.  When i fly Porter they take the carry on as you board and they give it back as you get off the plane. So that way there is no screwing around with the over head compartments.

Once i get on the plane i am settled pretty quickly.  I have the iPad in the compartment in front of me, my beats around my neck and my iPhone in my lap.  I am rather calm and try to get in a positive head space as soon as possible.  The Hardest part for me is not being allowed my headphones for a bit.  It is such a struggle for me to hear everything around me.  Here I am on the plane and luckily there are no screaming kids. The worst part is there is a group of girls around me already drinking at 8:40 am starting a party on their way to New York. They are loud, abrupt and screaming and yelling and the flight attendant has come down three times and i have only been on the plane for 30 minutes.

My next tip is to have distractions. I have Girl Online Going Solo by Zoe Sugg playing on Audible while I write this post.  I have taken a few VLOG clips and pictures of the fog as we shot through it leaving beautiful YYT.  I feel calmer than I anticipated but I still have a slight pang of anxiety.  I am trying to remind myself that everything is fine, I will be landing soon and everything is organized and under control.

I left the house the cleanest it has ever been. Lola is with my parents and her Aunt Lady but i find myself looking for her still. I never slept at all last night.  I woke up looking for her every hour on the hour last night.  I did a list for Lola so her routine doesn’t change.  I feel like a terrible momma for leaving her. I have never left for this length of time.  Yet i know that things are fine and i will FaceTime with my baby tonight.

Bottom line is i know I can make it to the best six days ever.  If you are reading this I am safely placed in Halifax with wi-fi and hopefully Britt.

If you have tips on how to travel with anxiety i would love to hear them.

I hope you guys enjoyed the six #baecation2017 videos. Britt and i have put so much work into the content and making the best memories ever!!

Spring/Summer Reading List

Friends

I have decided to share with you my Reading List for Spring/Summer 2017.  Feel free to let me know in the comments down below what books you are loving the most 🙂

Girl Online Going Solo by Zoe Sugg

This is the third installment of the Girl Online series!! These books are about a girl who has a blog post and how her life changes based on her online status.  She discovers so many things about herself including how to live with and manage anxiety.  I find the whole thing so compelling.  Zoe Sugg is well known has Zoella on YouTube.

I am currently reading this book and am truly loving it!!!

The Amateurs by Sara Shepard

This is yet another series written by Sara Shepard.  She is the genius behind Pretty Little Liars, The Lying Game, The Heiresses and the Perfectionist! This book is basically an unsolved murder mystery. I know there will be a  second book in this series for sure.  I just finished last week!! Totally worth checking out!!

Why Not Me by Mindy Kaling

This book is based off the show the Mindy Project.  I have currently downloaded Season 1 of this on Netflix to watch on the plane for my vacation.  I received this as a gift from my colleague.  We are reading this as an office book club project and I am so excited to start it.

Persuasion by Arlene Dickinson

This book is written by my all time favorite Dragon Arlene Dickinson.  I have read it so many times I cannot even count.  This is a book that has helped keep inspired to be the best I can be as a single, independent women!  I find myself picking  this baby up when i fell lost or if i need that extra push.  I actually have two copies.  One that is signed by Arlene and one that have sticky noted and marked up!  If you need a pick me up and heavy dose of inspiration grab this book!!

Where I Belong by Alan Doyle

He is not just an awesome singer and sometimes actor.  He is one of the greatest story tellers to roam Newfoundland.  This book is one smiles, humility and kindness.  It is one of those things that once you pick it up you will struggle to put it down.  From start to finish Alan just sucks you in and reminds you how lucky you are to be apart of Newfoundland.  It is such a heartwarming story!

So those are my top picks for reading at the moment.  Let me know down below if you have any must reads on your list this summer?

New Salon & Spa in St. John’s

Welcome back you guys!!

As I am writing this post I am preparing to go on vacation but I wanted to make sure you guys still have regularly scheduled blog posts.

I had the opportunity to head on down to a new hair salon and spa today.  I had Shellac on and off my toes at District Hair

First off it is absolutely stunning.  If you saw my Weekend VLOG you would have seen the beauty of the place.

First off, you can have tea or coffee with your services.  So naturally that is a win for me.  Not only is there coffee there is wi-fi!! Its a win win if you ask me.  Inside the Salon/Spa is absolutely beautiful.  Everything is laid out so beautifully and very strategically placed.  What I loved the most about the pedicure station is there is only one.  I like that everything needed for the pedicure is in one section.  I love that it is in an isolated spot so that you can have a conversation and not be bothered with people weighing in around you.  To be honest i prefer the little to no people vibes.  I tend to take the 9:00 a.m. appointment on Saturday mornings.  The other perk to that is that it is so close to Costco so i can get my groceries and do any other shopping I may need.

So bottom line is if you are looking for a new place to get your hair done, nails done, hair removal or other spa treatments go check out District Hair of Facebook

They also have gift certificates!! I managed to remember to pick up one for mom for Mother’s Day!!

If you get your nails done make an appointment with Ashley and tell her I sent you 😉

See you next time friends

Spring/Summer Netflix Watch List

Welcome Back Friends,

So friends I don’t know where you live but in Newfoundland Spring/Summer is not always blue skies and clouds.  Its usually windy semi-cold and raining a fair bit of the time.  That usually means I will be getting my FitBit steps in at home while watching TV. I personally do not watch a lot of TV, I tend to stick to YouTuber and Netflix.  So without further ado let’s jump into this list!

The Secret Life of the American Teenager

I recently discovered when I looked up the creator of 7th Heaven and realized this was a show she had a hand in too.  There are five season.  Each episode is an hour long.  Here is a quick little synopsis:

Brenda Hampton, creator of “7th Heaven” is behind the drama about the ways a teen pregnancy affects the lives of close-knit friends and family members. When Amy finds out she’s pregnant after a fling at band camp, she faces a number of challenges. Her decisions have far-reaching effects on her family and friends, but Amy also learns that most teens in her school have issues they must deal with.

Julie’s Greenroom

This is a Netflix Original Series starring the beyond talented Julie Andrews.  This is a light hearted kids puppet show type of show but it has so many life lessons and it is beyond educational.  Plus who doesn’t love hearing Julie Andrews sing?

Adorable puppets stage their own musical under the watchful eye of mentor Julie Andrews in this original kids’ series from the Jim Henson Company.

 The Mindy Project

This show I have not watched yet but was recently given book as part of an office book club, so naturally me being me I had to check out the show.  I am determined to binge watch this one in the next week or so.

Mindy Lahiri is a successful, skilled doctor, but when she leaves the office, all bets are off. She aspires to become a more well-rounded woman, someone who is punctual, frugal and well-read instead of someone who is obsessed with romantic comedies and likely to give an inappropriate toast at a wedding. Despite stumbles, Mindy remains determined to get her personal and romantic life on track — before her friends and colleagues are forced to stage an intervention — and find her perfect happy ending.

Pretty Little Liars

I have had a time watching this.  I have been a fan from day one.  The series is coming to an end in eight episodes.  This show is insane, edge of your seat once you start you can’t stop.

As time has passed since Alison, then the queen bee of the bunch, went missing. Spencer, Aria, Hanna and Emily have gone on with their lives, though they’ve grown apart. As the years go by, each girl finds herself facing a new set of challenges when anonymous text messages from “A” threaten to expose all their secrets — both old secrets the girls were sure only Alison knew, and newer secrets developed after Alison’s disappearance. Who is “A” and how does he or she know the things he or she knows? Based on the series of novels by Sara Shepard

So with all of that being said leave me a comment and tell me what your shows are that you love to binge watch on Netflix.  I am always open to suggestions.

ME – Who is AmandaandLola NL?

Hey Friends,

Welcome back to my Channel!! I am sorry I missed last week, life has been a roller coaster.  I hope you are well!!

I feel like since I first started the BLOG I have changed so much so I figured I would tell you all about it today.

I started writing the BLOG from my parents house in my old room, once i got the writing bug it transitioned into a YouTube Channel.  Once I got my YouTube Channel started I felt so in love with the online world and I noticed that was changing so rapidly.  I had grown as an individual.  I purchased my first car and decided to make the big move… i Moved out of my parent’s house and have been on my own now for two years!! The time has flown by.

There have been some major ups and downs in the time i have been out on my own.  I was diagnosed with anxiety.  That has to be the biggest down but i spend every day trying to make into an up.  I work so hard to learn how to maintain my anxiety.   I am determined not to let it control me.  Aside from the anxiety the other tough one for me was Cuddles passed away.  Loosing a family member is so hard and i struggled with it for so long.

A great plus is that I started a VLOG Channel.  I post Weekly VLOGS and Weekend VLOGS,  I have fallen in love with vlogging.  I love sharing my daily life with you guys.  It is such a joy and i am learning so many new things from the technology side of life.

To sum me up, I am a girl who managed to find a lot of confidence in being on YouTube.  As my Channel grows I feel I am growing as person, I am meeting new people and i am discovering so many fun things about myself.  I get that having anxiety doesn’t always make it easy but I will get through it and I will make myself better.

Thanks for being on this journey with me friends,

VACATION?!

Happy Wednesday Friends,

I have a little bit of news I want to share with you.  I am planning a six day vacation!! I have my flights booked and my plans made.  The reason I have not told you is that I really feel like I need to detox.  I feel like I need to get away.  I have gone out of my way to only tell six people where I am going.  I am not going far and my YouTube life will continue as normal!!

So what am i doing about the VLOGS?! you may ask? Well I leave YYT on a Thursday so I will schedule my weekly VLOG for that Friday as usual.  That VLOG will only contain Monday through Wednesday footage!! I plan to DAILY VLOG while I am gone Thursday to Tuesday!  I will be filming everyday.  I arrive back in YYT early afternoon on Tuesday so I figured I would do all the editing then,  and just upload all six video one at a time for you guys probably staggering them two a day on the Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday.  Then I will commence my regularly scheduled Weekend VLOG that Friday.

So if all goes according to plan you will have lots of content while I am gone.  I have been pre-filming so I will not feel frantic while I am away.

I did decide to book my trip on a whim.  I hooked a seat sale.  In the heat of the moment when the anxiety was high I decided that I really need a detox but want you guys to be involved in this vacation adventure!

So i hope you understand where I am coming from.  Please stay tuned to my VLOG Channel for all the posts from my Vacation VLOG Series.

Love you guys

Tips for Staying Organized

Hey Friends,

I have been getting a lot of questions about how I stay organized.  I figured I would take this opportunity to fill you in on how I keep all my life organized.

The first tip I could give you is buy a yearly planning.  The one I have this year is from Bando.  So here is the link to where i have purchased my planner for the year of 2017:  https://www.bando.com/collections/agendas

I use my planner to keep my life straight all the life things, work, personal YouTube, Blogging.  Writing everything down definitely helps me keep my focus.

Another thing is crucial for me staying organized is lists.  I have a grocery list in my notes app on my iPhone, I also write many lists in my notebook for things like videos, packing for trips, etc.  It all makes a difference.

I have a white board calendar on my fridge for emergency things for the week.

I am a firm believer in sticky notes as well.  It is totally okay to have reminders stuck to things friends!! I feel if i can write it out and plan it properly I can stay focused on any task at hand!

Let me know in the comments what you do to maintain your organization and survive life!!

Thanks for reading friends!
